"Daddy, where do babies come from?"
April's grinning from ear to ear.
He's hiding it, but they knew Bobo was in the same boat with White's pet.
As for CJ's parents?
Hunter was wide eyed.
Rex?Redder than his brother's tomatoes!
"Ex-squeeze me," he raised an eyebrow as he turned his gaze from the newspaper in his hands to his four year old daughter. The youngest Salazar looked up at her with those adorably big eyes of her's as she repeated her question, "Where do babies come from?".
"Uh..."
April's grin grew.
"Um..."
She had to cover her mouth to keep from laughing.
"Why don't you ask your mother," Rex said, trying to look serious as he returned his gaze to his paper. "Momma," CJ looked over at Hunter, turning her curious gaze on Hunter. She paused before a grin spread on her face. Hunter set her coffee down on the counter and went over to her daughter. Smiling that warm smile only a mother could make, she kissed CJ's forehead as she answered, "Thats a secret only Mommies and Daddies know. When you turn into a Mommy, I'll tell you then.". However, her answer only received a frustrated fishy face from CJ. "Ah," Hunter breathed, taken aback by her daughter's reaction, and looked over towards April and Bobo.
As she usually did during situations like this, April was doubled over, holding her mouth to keep from laughing. And as for Bobo? Well, it was obvious April wasn't helping him keep his cool. This time, Hunter smiled as she sighed. Those two will never change! "April," Hunter asked, "Why don't you explain it to her?". It obviously took some self control to wrestle her laughter down, but once she had, April sat up and uncovered her mouth. "You sure," she asked, that big goofy grin still on her face. Hunter returned her friend's grin as she hugged her daughter closer. "I think she likes your answers more," she answered as CJ returned the hug, wrapping her small arms around her mother's neck. "Okay, okay," April wiped a tear from her eye and opened her arms towards CJ as she said, "C'mere, Jr.!". Hunter allowed her daughter to slip from her grip as she stood up. CJ's mother quietly watched as April pulled CJ up into her lap before Hunter returned to her coffee.
"Hey, "Auntie"," CJ asked, turning her still curious gaze onto the woman who was practically was her aunt, "Where do babies come from?". And, cue answer nobody expects! "You mean you didn't know? Everybody knows babies come from the cloud castle, silly!"
Rex immediately looked up from his paper at the brunette as Bobo began to double over himself, obviously amused by April's answer. "I didn't," CJ's curious gaze turned into a disbelieving glare as she carefully watched her "aunt"'s face for any signs that she was bluffing. But unlike her parents-or really anyone in Providence-CJ had probably already learned what those signs were. And if she saw any while her "aunt" said, "Well, that's because you won't know anything until you ask!",she herself didn't show any signs of it. And instead of continuing to question her "aunt''s logic, CJ actually smiled as she said, "Good point.".
As April continued to explain her theory of how babies were made to one of the few people who would actually understand what she was explaining, Hunter joined Rex at the table, placing an arm on his shoulder as she sat down. "Do you think April actually believes what she's spouting," he leaned over and whispered. "Probably not," Hunter answered as she took a sip of coffee, "I'm sure Holiday's explained this to her already. This is probably one of April's delusional theories.". "Ah," Rex muttered before returning to his paper. However, instead of peeking over her spouse's shoulder, Hunter continued to watch her friend explain baby-making to their daughter. It had long since ceased to amaze her how April could make a tall tale sound so convincing! And even more so at the fact that people drank it up like alcoholics did liquor. But this time...The feeling was refreshing as she watched the two children-one an actual child where the other just had a childish mind-discuss April's hypothesis. She couldn't help but grin as she took another sip of coffee. Guess Holiday had been right...,she thought,...Maybe April really is Providence's blue bird.
"--ks,Auntie," CJ giggled as her "aunt" cuddled her cheek to the younger female's head. "What brought this up,anyways," April muttered, obviously content as she buried her face in CJ's hair. "Because kids at school were saying that Mommies and Daddies make babies when they--,"Cj managed to say before April clamped a hand over her mouth. "They're liars," she simply said as Bobo burst into laughter. "Wha--,"Cj began before April repeated herself, "Liars. All liars.".
From where she sat beside Rex, Hunter couldn't help but cover her mouth as she tried her hardest not to giggle. So that was the plan! And it was probably Rex who had told April to lie if it meant they could maintain CJ's innocence! As for the father himself? He was obviously amused. Nobody could really think of an emotion that would cause the Hispanic EVO to double over as Bobo and April had before.
Such a typical thing a young kid would normally say...where do babies come from?
Actually,April's got it wrong.Babies are made out toadstools and boogers.
